Hall of Fame Criteria for Admission

I. Guidelines as to eligibility of inductees:

A. Candidates must have lettered at TCU and have completed their eligibility at least ten years prior to the year of their induction into the Hall of Fame.

B. Candidates should be judged on the basis of athletic achievement while at TCU and/or thereafter (70%), service to TCU after school (15%), and community service and standing (15%). Primary consideration should be given to athletic achievement.

II. Each Spring, the Executive Secretary will mail, email, or fax each Association member an explanation of the Hall of Fame, and request that each member nominate one (1) Letterman to be inducted that year.

Each year the President of the Association shall propose a separate nominating committee of at least three (3) members. This committee’s job shall be to propose a maximum of three (3) vintage nominees to the selection committee. These nominees are to be nominated from Lettermen who have completed their eligibility at least forty (40) years prior to the current year.

III. A screening committee will screen the nominees of the members that are received by the Secretary. This committee will recommend for the TCU Lettermen’s Hall of Fame twelve (12) persons for consideration. These twelve (12) persons shall come from nominees whose athletic eligibility has been over for a period of time not less than ten (10) years no more than forty (40) years from the current date. This committee shall consist of the existing officers of the Association plus the immediate Past President. Additional screening committee members shall be chosen to make up a minimum committee of ten (10). Non ex-officio members shall be chosen by the President.

IV. A selection committee shall pick one (1) inductee from the vintage nominees, and may pick up-to-four (4) inductees from the nominees in the ten (10) to forty (40) year period. The Selection Committee shall be made up of the Screening Committee plus all Directors of the Association or a replacement representative of each director. No current nominee is eligible to serve on the selection committee. The Selection Committee shall have the option to select one (1) Letterman each year under the following criteria:

• Candidates must have completed their eligibility at least 10 years prior to the year of their induction.
  Candidates must have received a letter while competing at TCU.
  
• Candidates should be judged on the basis of athletic achievement while at TCU and/or thereafter (20%), service to TCU after school (40%) and community service standing (40%).

 

V. No more than one (1) deceased member shall be inducted into the Hall of Fame each year. No more than six (6) members shall be inducted into the Hall of Fame each year.
